Bodyguard Training Must be Physical – close protection team Officers Must Have Fit For Purpose

Recently, I was reading a manual for bodyguard training and noticed that the subject of physical fitness was not even mentioned in the text. The manual did include a photo of the author. This made it clear that the author had no interest in fitness. Maybe the author simply assumed that everyone who wanted to be a bodyguard was healthy. Unfit bodyguards are a liability to themselves, his team and his principal. When working long hours in stressful environments and with demanding shift patterns, it can be hard to find the time to keep your fitness up.

It is possible, but it is difficult to do. There is no way that anyone can be so busy that they cannot fit in a half-hour of maintenance fitness. Presidents and prime ministers make time for it. Fit protection officers will be more confident and others will see the difference. He/she will be a confident officer and look great. What message does an overweight, unfit bodyguard send? It shouts phrases such as lack self-discipline and unprofessionality, slob, and incompetent.

Unfit Close Protection Officers will not be able to handle stressful situations as well as a fit officer. Unfit people can experience the devastating effects of adrenalin. They will lose energy quickly and be unable to make quick decisions. Fatigue will prevent them from choosing the best course of action. It is important for close protection team to be in good physical condition.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find time to exercise while on the road with the Principal. With a little planning, you can still keep up your fitness routine. These days, many hotels have a gym. Some are big and airy with lots of equipment and a steam room. Others are small and darkened basements with old StairMasters and dumbbells. There are many hotels that provide more than enough for our needs, somewhere in between.

We can use the stairs or road for aerobic exercise, and our body weight for strength and resistance work such as sit-ups and push-ups. It takes up very little space in your bag and requires minimal equipment to keep you fit. If you’re going to a place without a gym, consider bringing a small amount of equipment with you to keep your fitness on track. Remember to pack running shoes and running gear. You can use a stability (Swiss ball) to do core exercises. It can also be used as a bench or seat for upper body exercises. The ball is small when inflated, and can be used for a quick cardiovascular workout. You don’t have to worry about securing a skipping rope or an exercise mat in a suitcase. A chin-up bar and an exercise mat can also be easily stuffed into a suitcase.
